Life without an iPhone (Day 7)

Oct 2nd, 2007 | By CeeDubb | Category: Life

September 26, 2007 marks a sad day in American history.  As the state of the world is in turmoil…as nation fights against nation…as thousands go hungry in the streets…as our country still suffers under the leadership of George Dubbya…

I lost my iPhone.

It happened somewhere on my morning ride up to Lytle Creek. The last I saw it was when I put in my jersey pocket before I went out the door for my morning training ride.  When I got home to check the weather, it was gone.

I quickly got ready for work and drove my entire route in hopes of finding it on the side of the road. Hopefully, the case that it was in did it’s part in protecting it from the drop.

But sadly, no iPhone was found.

Do I have faith in the inherent goodness of humankind that someone would return my iPhone to me if they found it?  Hell no, that bad boy is as good as gone.  I still have no official word from Apple or AT&T if they could track the iPhone’s serial number if someone tries to activate it or sync it with iTunes.

So now I have a dilemma, I heard the rumors of a 3G iPhone coming out in Quarter 1 of 2008 with more memory and a GPS chipset. Do I wait it out and use my CrackBerry until its rumored release?  Or do I bite the bullet and just buy another iPhone.

I still have my $100 Apple credit so I tried to justify the replacement as being only $299, but my wonderful friend was kind enough to analyze the whole situation and break down the true cost.  He factored in the original cost of my first iPhone and said that I would really be spending $900 total.  What an asshole.  Thanks Jose…

It’s been a week and I’m going nuts.  I didn’t realize how much the iPhone has spoiled me.  It’s not even the music or internet features that I miss.  It’s the elegant ease of just using it as A PHONE!! Apple has forever ruined the mobile phone experience for me.  I CAN’T go back!

What would you do?

  2. I’m almost afraid I’ll find you curled up in a fetal position, at the doorstep of an apple store.

    Oh wait…

  3. Good one. The point has finally come around where past pictures come back to haunt me…
